I picked up the keys and signed the lease on the new apartment this afternoon. They did a great job on repairing/redecorating the place. I think I’ll be very happy there.

So far I’ve gotten the ceiling fan hung in the bedroom, the bookcase from hell disassembled, moved, safely reassembled, and have swapped all my compact fluorescent bulbs into the corresponding fixtures in the new place. After all this, I’m not exceptionally sore; kind of surprising considering the number of trips I made up and down the stairs. (Of course, I may catch up with me tomorrow morning. We’ll wait and see.)

It’s kind of odd being in the new place. It’s the exact same layout as I currently have, but besides the different color scheme, there are also other subtle differences. Switches and outlets are in slightly different locations (amazing how your body knows where to find something and then is surprised when it isn’t there), doors fit differently, the garbage disposal is on the opposite side of the sink from where I have it in my present apartment, and of course, the light in the place is completely different.

The last thing I did this evening was move my patio furniture over to the new balcony. Afterward, I sat down and enjoyed the luxury of sitting out enjoying the evening without feeling like people were walking right in front of me. (My current patio is literally right up against the sidewalk that runs parallel to the carports.)

Tomorrow I need to run to the hardware store to pick up a few bits and pieces, and then the plan is to move everything that isn’t slated for the movers. Admittedly, that isn’t a whole lot.

And BTW, I learned that the jacuzzi at this pool—like the pool itself—is not heated. “What good is a cold water jacuzzi?” I asked the leasing agent. “When it’s 110 outside you won’t notice it,” was her response. Yeah, but it’s not 110 outside right now.

The other pool and jacuzzi are heated. Guess if I want to ease my sore muscles later this weekend I’ll have to take a little walk…
